Vessel Mashup Project

For the final project in my OBDF 110 class, I worked together with Max Gurtler to create a mashup of two vessels that we had designed for the previous project. In the end we agreed on an object that, while probably impractical for actually holding anything, would definitely be an interesting object to have as a decoration or art statement. We messed around with a few different concepts, but in the end this is the object that we came up with.

The Object

This was the mashup that we came up with. The lower half is made out of one of Max's objects, and the top half is made from one of mine. One of the problems that I ran into was with my vessel; when I capped it, it placed a cap in each section of the object, and it was difficult to separate and delete them because for some reason they'd attached themselves to another part of the vessel.

My Vessel

This is my vessel, used in the top half of our mashup. I edited the object a bit by removing the top section, creating a bigger hole so it was open enough to work as an actual vessel.

Max's Object:

This is Max's object. We agreed that it had an interesting shape that would work well for the base of the mashup, as most of their objects had a more stable lower half than mine.

There wasn't a lot of issues with this project, and it was a fun and less stressful way to end the class for this semester. I had a lot of fun in this class, and every week I looked forward to getting to learn more about 3D Object Design, as it is an area that I've been interested in for a long time. I'm very glad I was given this opportunity, and I'm looking forward to taking more advanced object design classes in the future!
