[Insert Radiohead Reference Here]
With this project, I decided that for my prototype I would go with the radio. This was a learning process and I had to try again a couple times, but having some previous knowledge of papercraft certainly helped. For my first attempt at the prototype, the main problem came from not having enough tabs on the exploded template that I would use to connect the parts, as well as trying to make it out of normal printer paper. For my second attempt, I was able to get my hands on some cardstock and it went a little better, although the smaller details were difficult as the paper is pretty thick.
First Prototype:
Due to how flimsy the material was, making this prototype pretty much just ended with ripped paper and anger.
Second Prototype:
With this second attempt I tried to add more tabs so it was easier to glue the parts together, I also tried to make the antenna round, but because of the thickness of the cardstock I couldn't quite get it to fold the way I wanted. I've also been messing around with the idea of making the knobs able to turn, but so far I haven't been able to get anywhere with that. The final project will hopefully have more details, like an inset screen and buttons that stand out more. I just need to find a way to have better details with cardstock, or find thinner paper somewhere.
